In a hysterical society, though, each person only reaches that objective by means of an outstanding effort of becoming self-conscious (of the disproportion between the emotion felt and the reality emotionally perceived) and self reeducation. What should be simply the standard of human normality becomes an arduous personal acomplishment.
We do not want that the government solve our problems. We just want it to stop creating new ones.
In a well-structured soul, emotions naturally reflect the sense of proportions and the reality of the situation. Affection, hope, fear, anxiety, hate are proportional to their objects, and, in that regard, real organs of perception. Tuning them so they reach that point is the objective of all education of the emotions.
